Mark the Barber

Hi there, as you are probably aware my name is Mark. I originaly set up this website to attract old and new customers. Cutting mens hair was my life. I started out doing a 3 year aprentiship with a well respected hair salon in Dorset called Scissors. They taught me how to cut and Style mens hair. In those days mens hairdressing was really getting underway. Most men would normaly have a short back and sides at the local barber shop. The 80's changed all that. With footballers and rock stars having the bautifully permed hair this changed many mens views on hairdressing for ever. It became ok for men to go into hair salons and be pampered. Of course fashions have a lot to do with where men have there hair cut. There are 3 types of Men nowadays. When deciding on where to get your hair cut most of us will go on recomendation, but price will have an effect. Some men would never pay over £10 others think you have to spend at least £20 to get a decent hait cut. There is also the man that is simply going to a particular salon because its cool and expensive. It's great today because we have so much choice. Unfortunitly for me as a barber it became to dificult to make money. I think The Barber trade has become very cheapened. We all have learnt a craft, i spent 3 years training, and 20 years experience to become a very accomplished Mens Hairdresser. What is the point in opening a Barber Shop, charging anywhere from £3-£8 for a mens haircut. You have to be mad. By doing this barbers can not charge the amount of money they should to be able to earn a living. I have given up the trade because of this reason. I can not afford to bring up a family on a barbers wage, simple as that. Sorry to all of my customers who have supported me for years, your business was very much appreciated. Thanks. 

 Well i did not want to waste this website so i am adding some mens hairstyles to it. There will be articles, fashion tips and male grooming ideas. All in all i am going to be dedicating my website to an all mens hairdressing and general tips on how to look good. Please feel free to e-mail me with any ideas or new products you think i should be talking about. I would like this to be fun and for me a hobby that will hopefully help guys to help themselves.
